My Commitment to You
At Meraki Counselling, I believe that informed consent and privacy are essential to ethical care. I am committed to ensuring that every client understands how their information is used, stored, and protected -and that they feel safe and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.
What You’re Consenting To
When you engage with Meraki Counselling, you’ll be asked to review and sign a Consent & Service Agreement. This outlines:
The nature and purpose of counselling services
Your rights to withdraw consent at any time
How your information may be used (e.g., session notes, referrals, reporting)
Limits to confidentiality (e.g., risk of harm, legal obligations)
Your responsibilities as a client
I will walk you through this agreement during onboarding, and you’re welcome to ask questions at any time.
How I Protect Your Privacy
I comply with the Australian Privacy Act, NDIS Code of Conduct, and South Australian child safety standards. Your personal information is:
Stored securely using encrypted, password-protected systems
Only accessed by authorised personnel
Never shared without your written consent (unless required by law)
I do not record sessions without consent, and I do not use your data for marketing or third-party purposes.

As a client, you have the right to:
Access your records upon request
Request corrections to inaccurate information
Withdraw consent at any time
Ask questions about how your data is handled
